Functionality

So what is functionality? It is a lot of technical stuff that is very important. Let's see if we can make it understandable.

In 1994 the Web burst onto the computer desktop and revolutionized information delivery. That Web is evolving faster than any other medium. To maintain some sanity in such a chaotic environment, software standards (rules) have been developed. There are standards for anything you can imagine and many organizations issue them. Standards provide a framework around which everyone can innovate without breaking everyone else's work. The Web is a world community and anyone who does not play by the community rules will eventually be left behind - it is an attrition thing.

WME is dedicated to standards. At the bottom of this page you will see two W3C icons that mean this page is built to comply 100% with the standards for XHTML (the newest HTML) and CSS (a new way to make the page look the way it does). 98%+ of all webpages do not meet these standards.

Ok, so what does this mean? The Web is about to make some exciting new changes referred to as the Semantic Web. It will require webpages to be 100% standards compliant to participate. Those that aren't will have to be rebuilt. So, buy standard compliance now.

As you can imagine, there are many other facets to functionality, and standards is the most important.
