Ecommerce Collecting the MoneyAt the heart of any sale is the consideration, compensation - getting paid. On the Net it is usually done via the credit card. "Card Not Present" means higher discount rates or the percent the merchant pays the credit card company, and so far, that is the only way to do it on the Net. Unfortunately, it also means the merchant eats the loss if the sale is challenged by the consumer through his credit card. In the brick-and-mortar store, where the merchant has the customer's signature, the credit card system covers the loss. Clearly a better way to collect needs to be found.
